How big is the community?

This is a question that me, you and others have probably asked themselves at one point or another. I became thoughtful by the question thanks to a post on the FFR Forums, which you can check here.

So... How big is the community? Well its small. In comparison to the Original FusionFall its pretty small, but in comparison to other fan revivals or projects, its really big. Probably the biggest.

Now for the numbers. Great FusionFall Universe User Finn_hornhoover decided to give out the stats he managed to get. If you were an old school blog viewer you might remember him for making the Don Doom and Bad Max C.R.A.T.E tracker.

August 1st was as public as it gets, and yet we didn't hit 2000 active users then. If a release happens, this number will go up due to new accounts who were previously guests, but I don't expect it to be anywhere close to 10k. The forum user count is an unreliable representation of the community at this point.
Here's some information from the forum stats that might paint a better picture though:
  • Only 29 users have 1000+ posts.
  • Only 293 users have 100+ posts.
  • Only 1168 users have 10+ posts.
  • Only 3692 users have 1+ posts. That's only 1.5% of the forum.
  • The average post count per user is 2.81.
  • 30.2% of all posts were made by the top 30 posters.
  • Our average online users per day is 110.91.

Most users seem to be inactive. It's the bulk that's important, not the spikes. Once the game comes out and everyone calms down, the community we're going to be looking at then isn't going to be much more different from what we're looking at now in terms of percentages. Total counts are misleading.
All of it speaks some great truths and some very interesting info too. For those who dont understand it, i condensed it so its easier to understand.

  • August 1st, the day of the supposed release of the future, was the most active and full day. Once release happens, guests (people without accounts) may/will create accounts to play FFR, increasing numbers. Probably wont be close to 10,000 however.
  • A big majority of users post 2 to 3 posts per day, and the average is 110 per day. Not a bad number at all.
  • Most (if not all) users are inactive. Some of them might be lurking thru the forums (like me), or are guests.
  • Most likely after release, numbers will/might decrease and stay like right now.

Overall, while our community isnt the biggest in the world, it is good enough to sustain a game like this, and more are to come for sure.

(Follow Up) CPPSs and why everyone should move to CPI

So i just found out Vintage Penguin... Is closing!
Yeah. It will probably close in April. The Puffle Party is canned, and April Fools party on April 1st. Very sad.

2nd, the "cp generations" i said last post is actually called CP regen. It closed by the start of the month. Sorry for that mix-up.

Finally, Drivr3joe is making ANOTHER CPPS, called Club Penguin Evolved. To be honest this is a bad idea. I support it, yes, but i dont think is a good idea. I think at this point we should all move to CPI, and stop opening up CPPSs that die in 2 to 8 months. Maybe more if they are popular.

I dont hate CPPSs. Far from it. But i think we should just give up on the idea of reviving Classic CP.

~Plants10000

Lets talk Club Penguin for a bit

Club Penguin is in a... weird state, to say the least. Im not talking about CPI, or Club Penguin Island, but rather its remakes for the original, also known as CPPSs.

CPPS stands for Club Penguin Private Server, and ever since the shutdown of the game in 2017, the community has worked hard to bring back the original, with great success at the beginning, but now it seems to be declining more and more each day, with problems not in the game, but with its developers, moderators, whatever.

Today i want to take you all thru a ride on the history of CPPSs, and what they mean for CPI, as well as what they might mean in the future.

Image result for Club Penguin
The 1st CPPS
The 1st ever CPPS to come out was called !CPv1, and it was accessed thru a program which was used to cheat on Club Penguin, called Penguin Storm. The game granted its users free membership and was extremely popular. So popular in fact Disney ended up shutting it down due to its popularity and it removing users from the original CP.

Later on, the creator gave away the code, script and more of this CPPS, so many other developers or people could create a CPPS themselves. This would later lead to really popular CPPSs, like CPPS.me.

2010-2017
CPPSs would continue to appear around this time. CPPS.me was the most popular, as you could do various things that you couldnt do in CP (like swearing, getting any item without needing coins, etc). The site slowly lost traffic however.

During 2015 and 2016, CP was putting bad parties, which drove players away from CP into CPPSs. Not only this, but Item Adders were also a huge problem (and still are in CPI to this day, albeit at a slower rate).

The Shutdown
With Club Penguin announcing its closure in the 29th of March, 2017, many people started migrating to a CPPS. The most well known and most succesful CPPS, Club Penguin Rewritten, arose during this time, and with it others like Vintage Penguin, Virtual Penguin etc. All these were done to give its users an old time experience with Club Penguin, and not the bad content from 2015-2017. They were a massive success, and after the shutdown their growth began to rise more and more.

A few months later, CPR ended up with MORE users than CPI, putting to the point that CPI wasnt a good game, as in you need Membership for pretty much anything.

It wasnt about Membership anymore, but rather having fun and keeping a game lots of people loved alive, while giving the best experience possible.

The rise and fall of CPR
As stated before, CPR got so popular that it overthrew CPI in users, but that was only the beginning.

The game was the most popular CPPS period. It was the best and most retro (heh) experience you could have of the old Club Penguin, with old and fan favorite parties being added and revived each month. It was great, and alot of people loved it.

However, by the end of April, Codey, one of the developers, started to harass and threathing other people, even Swatting people just for no good reason. At the end Codey was kicked from the team, and the rest of the team tried to keep up with the servers and users, but to no avail. At the end CPR needed to shutdown.

After it close down, more CPPSs started to pop-up, trying to regain or obtain the fame from CPR players, but some failed and some succeded, like Club Penguin Regen, Generations, Online and more.

CPPSs now
The main reason i wanted to do this was because of the controversies, problems and reasons behind the game. CPR and Codey was only the beginning, but it continued from there.

Games like Club Penguin Generations (or regen. Im sorry i dont remember) got closed due to information outbreaks, where Usernames and Passwords got breached. Another popular and really promising CPPS, called Club Penguin Universe, created by a really popular CP Youtuber, Drivr3Joe, is currently very dangerous as he, HIMSELF, the creator of the game, got kicked by corrupt and bad admins, alongside mods.

With all these problems, i think its better to leave Club Penguin to die, and go play CPI. What started as a fun, waddle on and play games with friends, ended up being and still kinda is, a game where stuff happens in the background that is very dangerous and very bad for everyone.

Another CPPS made by CPR developers, called Pengur, might release this year, or next year. I just hope it can bring back the awesome community of Club Penguin to a better spot.

What do you think about CPPS? Have you ever played one in your life? What are your thoughts on these problems happening? Leave a comment below and it might be featured in a later post.

FusionFall 101: System Requirements explained and what we recommend

Welcome back to FusionFall 101! Its been a long time since we´ve done one of these, and today we are back with a different topic.

You see, we dont just want to cover In-game content, but also helpful and useful advice for real life when playing or before playing FusionFall. Today we will cover System Requirements, and what we recommend you should have before playing Retro.

1st, here are the recommended minimum requirements provided in the official FusionFall Retro FAQ page.

Now these are really good, but we can go higher, and even lower. Retro doesnt require much to run, and even the worst computers should be able to run it. Here are our recommended specs (requirements)

OS: Windows is the ultimate, only obligatory requirement AS OF NOW. A Launcher might be made later for Mac and Linux, but its unlikely at the moment. Windows is very reliable to get so it shouldnt be a problem, but if you dont have Windows, use a PC emulator to emulate a Windows OS.

Version: The ones recommended are incredible, but ive been able to run Retro on Windows XP. The version currently used in Retro can be ran on Windows XP, albeit with some lag issues. We recommend however to use Windows 7 to 8.1 (i myself use 8.1 Professional, and it runs like a charm).

Processor: The original recommended is really good, but if you dont have that a 1 to 1.2 GHz or a Pentlum 3 will work just as well.

Video Card: The video card is very common to find on Windows 7 to 8.1. My PC contained Shaders and DX9, but if you dont have it then update Shaders and/or change your Video Card.

Sound Card: Pretty much any sound card from Windows 8 and up will work, and if you dont have that you can replace it, or just play with no sound (but of course why would you).

Free Space: FusionFall can run on something lower than 2 GB, but with lag issues. We recommend you double up on this (so 4 GB), so your game works with little to no lag.

Other tips: Make sure not to have viruses! These will slow down your PC, some even making it impossible to use (my 1st PC). Run your Anti-virus once every month or so, that way you can keep your PC safe from them.

FusionFall is a very easy game to install and play, and of course, even the worst PCs can play it. Thats where the configurations button comes into play, but we will talk about it later.

Now for the question of the day: What are your PC specs? Did you find this useful? Tell us in the comments below and i might be able to help ya out if you have low specs.
Thanks for reading everyone, have a great day!

Item Showcase: Anubis Laser Rifle

If you want this item, you'll need to select Mojo Jojo as your Guide. He's a cranky little simian, but he does give out some great gear!

Mojo once used a priceless and mystical Anubis Head statue to turn everyone in Townsville into dogs. That was a crazy afternoon! The Powerpuff Girls managed to save the day (as usual), but the statue was destroyed in the scuffle.

Now, Mojo's favorite piece of canine sculpture is recreated with this Egyptian-influenced weapon. Complete the level 6 Guide Mission "Gun Run," and this puppy's all yours!

If you didn't choose Mojo as your Guide when you travelled through time, but you want the Anubis Laser Rifle, you can change Guides at any Guide Changing Station. Just remember, you can only use gear given to you by your current Guide!

(Follow Up) Sunday Tips: Races

Heres the Player Spotlight post for Zippy Zoomshoes. Enjoy!

As part of our High Scores kickoff event, we'll spotlight a new race-running player character every week. This week's hero is Zippy Zoomshoes, a super speedy race expert who has been tearing up the Infected Zone courses for quite some time!
Take a look at a few fascinating facts about Zippy:

-favors run, jump and rocket Nanos.

-prefers green over blue.

-masquerades in the forums as a disgruntled rodent.

-has been playing FusionFall since way back in the early days of beta.

Let's all congratulate Zippy Zoomshoes for his tireless efforts in the fight against Lord Fuse as well as his impressive virtual athleticism. Truly, this is what heroes are made of.
Want a shot at being next week's Spotlight Player? You gotta get in the game and run those Infected Zone courses! PLAY NOW!

Sunday Tips: Races

You can run races in the game to earn more Fusion Matter. On your mark, get set, GO!

If you're not running races, you're missing out on a lot of FusionFall fun!

You've probably noticed those official-looking characters standing around near the Warp Gates in FusionFall's Infected Zones. Those are SACT (Special Alien Capture Team) Agents, and they're stationed there to oversee races.

Races are a fun way to compete with other players and earn Fusion Matter. To start a race, click on a race attendant, then click the Start Race button. Make your way through the Infected Zone collecting Fusion pods, and finish by checking in with the race attendant at the end of the course (usually on the opposite side of the Infected Zone from where you started). It's you against the clock! Once you finish, your score will be compared to other players who have run the course.

A demonstration of races starring ChronoSquare, which back then was honored by FusionFall in the "Player Spotlight" posts as a fast runner and racer.

Remember, practice makes perfect! Get really good at races and you could see your name on FusionFall's home page as a featured High Score!

Do you remember? Adventure Time Battle Party

Image result for adventure time battle party
I know this doesnt have anything to do with FusionFall, but i do want to talk about it since it kinda ties in today with it, not in gameplay, characters, story etc, but in its Engine: Unity Web Player, which was recently removed in most browsers (hence why FusionFall RETRO will be playable via a Launcher and not thru the browser). Due to its removal, the game is dead, but it certainly has some interesting mechanics and story behind it. Today im taking you all to a trip down the memory lane of this game.

The game was released back in June of 2014, and it was a MOBA, or Multiplayer Online Battle Arena. In it you could choose your favorite Adventure Time character and use them to fight against other characters in a League Of Legends type of gameplay. It was really popular and fun too.

It was simple to play. Move your hero by clicking wherever you wanted to go. Attack with Mouse 1. Press Q,W or E to use your special moves or powers (with E being your "Ultimate"), and press B to level up your heroes Backpack once you Level Up by collecting XP.

Backpacks could be bought using the coins obtained at the end of a match, where your would be put in a team of 3 battling against 3 other opponents. Coins could also be used to buy Outfits and Skins for your characters.

Each character had special abilities or characteristics unique to each other, and this could be affected by the Backpack you used, and the items you upgraded in said Backpacks. Me personally was a Magic Man main, or i preferred to use him most of the time, followed by Gunther and Marceline.

Image result for adventure time battle party
Now you might be asking: Why would such an awesome game go down? While many say it was because of Unity´s death, which also killed other games like Project: Exonaut and FusionFall Heroes (begone) , its main reason was because Cartoon Network decided to cease development on the game. The last patch for the game was in May 19th, 2015, where afterwards it experienced a short and painful death.

Its sad to see such an awesome game go, as i loved it and would still play it with regularity, even if it was just single player. CN even had great hopes for the game, as they even hosted Tournaments. Maybe if it went the route of FusionFall at the beginning, where it began as a Pay-to-Play game, maybe it could have lasted longer.

To what i know, the game can still be played in the best browser of them all: Internet Explorer, but alot of the graphics and some sounds are missing, according to some people and sources.

As of now, the only multiplayer game left for CN is TKO, which might go down any time now considering that most of the multiplayer games are getting canned and left to rot. Im planning to cover TKO at a later date, but for now you can still go and play it. You simply need to dig deep into the CN site to find it.

Did you play Battle Party when it was still active? What was your favorite Character to use? Which backpack did you use? If you could bring back any game from CNs past that is no longer available: Which would it be? Comment below and they might be featured in a later post.

Sneak Peek news

So with Sneak Peek Weekend coming soon, Weekly Devblogs have stopped, so now we are just waiting till the announcement for the Sneak Peek comes out.

According to the devs, the reason for it is to prepare for it. I dont blame them, and im happy they are spending all of their time on Sneak Peek Weekend rather than writing devblogs.

Good Luck to the devs!

Update on my whereabouts (on the blog)

Hey all!
You may have  noticed my disappearence all the sudden, but thats because my school decided to go all crazy and give us a butt ton of work and homework, alongside tests before vacations began. That and me getting sick were the reasons why i couldnt post recently.

Im back, im out of vacation, and im technically still alive, since ive been uploading on YT recently. We just hit 300 subs, so ill see what ill do for that.

Im planning on making the site more beginner friendly and making it the #1 stop for all your beginner needs about FusionFall.

Stay tuned for all i have planned, alongside more, during these 2 long weeks of Easter vacations :P

FusionFall RETRO Weekly Devblog: Sneak Peek Info!

Hey everybody, this update covers our upcoming Sneak Peek Weekend, including what to expect, how it will work, and what we intend to use it for!

You read that correctly, we’re gearing up for our first Sneak Peek Weekend, a concept many older players might be familiar with. The original game featured several weekends where the game would open to allow players into the game briefly so that they could test things and ensure they were all ready for launch. We thought it was a fun idea, and we’re nearing the need to get large amounts of players online and testing things, so we’re doing the very same thing!

Sometime in the near future, we’re intending to temporarily release the Future Zone for a full weekend in order to collect some data, ensure things are working as we’re expecting them to, and give everyone a chance to experience the Future in its entirety. Keep in mind, we’re using this opportunity largely to help us out with bugs and game security. Be warned that characters made during this period won’t be saved or carried over to the official full release.

We’d like everyone participating in our Sneak Peek Weekend to help us out by reporting any glitches or bugs you may encounter. We’d like to hear them all. Please post that information here on the forums in the Glitches and Bugs section, with all the relevant information regarding the error you’ve encountered.

We don’t yet have a concrete date for our first Sneak Peek Weekend, and we may only wind up needing just one. As always you can keep up to date through our weekly updates on the forums, and as always, thanks for reading our latest weekly update!

The FusionFall Blog´s March 2018 calendar!

Heres the March calendar! 3 events, with 2 being small scale and one of them being major scale :)
Blue represents Funkey-Fest, a full blown festival to celebrate U.B Funkeys! Starts March 5th and ends March 8th.

Green represents St. Paddy´s Day Party, where we celebrate the good old green tradition! Starts March 15th and ends March 17th.

Finally, Yellow represents Springening 2018, where the flowers bloom and birds sing! Starts March 21st and ends March 28th.

All other days will feature normal posts.

Thanks everyone! We will have a special announcement once Springening begins too, so stay tuned for that :D
