Review: Birthday Bash 2019

With 10 years of FusionFall, how did the CN characters decided to celebrate such a milestone?

The Birthday Bash event was awaited for quite a while. Many people wanted to see how it would turn out and what would be added. We got a great event with some not so great choices.

Lets begin with the story. Like every year, the CN characters remake the Gazebo on Pokey Oaks and turn it into a delicious cake. Unlike past years however, Fuse doesnt want any of this, and sends the "Party Poopers" to ruin the celebration.

I actually really liked that this year we got something more to do rather than vehicles and items. Now we got a boss, which unlike the past boss before it: The Ice Titans, is alot better when it comes to distributing items, but i feel like they were given out way too much (more on that later).

Alongside the Cake came some party planners dressed as Noods, a fun way to reference the year that CN came out: 2009, with CNs mascots being the Noods (and the disgusting CN real in a way).

On top of the cake theres a vehicle vendor. This event brought back all the old Birthday Bash vehicles. From the legendary Royal Swan to the XLR Car, theres something for everyone here. They were also at a much, and i mean MUCH more reasonable price, at 20,000 Taros per vehicle for a week. 5 times cheaper than the Knishmas vehicles, which were 100,000 Taros. They were class 1,100, aka some of the fastest vehicles at such a good price.

Lets talk items. Over 70 items were added with this update. An insane amount, all of them event exclusive. You get them by defeating the Party Pooper and its minions, the Birthday Bashers, and they drop special 10th anniversary Crates, and when opened drop these special items.

A ton of NPC like items were added, like the Ranger Commando set. Almost every item here is custom and brand new in FusionFall, which is always nice.

My biggest problems with this however, is that we never got any more bank space and how these items were distributed.

With so many items, people just ended up creating multiple bank characters to store the items. With how easy these were to get, it made all the items here almost worthless in the economy.

Even so i still feel like these items were given out better than the other events. In Halloween there were too many drops, and them being untradable made it even more of a hastle. With Knishmas we got very little drops, making it almost impossible to fill an entire inventory with just Knishmas crates. Here it takes almost no effort to fill an inventory with Anniversary crates.

Even so, theres a ton of cool new and awesome items here. My favorites include the new Focus Blindfold, the bubbleheads, the Ranger Commando set and all of the Fusion accesories.

Another new addition we got was a brand new Chat UI. I wanna make another review for it alone, but its pretty good and modern for a game this old. I like it alot.

Overall, the 10th Birthday Bash was alright. While it didnt have alot to do, it gave us cool items and awesome vehicles. Out of the 3 events we have gotten so far, i´d say this lands on 2nd place.

Even so, the massive amount of items given out making the items themselves worthless, the lack of new bank space and even exploiters who would glitch out the Party Poopers, its not a great event, but its not terrible either. Its ok.

8.5/10
Less items and more bank space or more awesome vehicles please.

THE FUSIONFALL BLOG IS BACK

Read the little news post here, and we will see you soon!

Rest In Peace, The Unknown.

On January 26th. 2019, the "Minor" update came out, and with it introduced a lot of cool content and bug fixes, but it also removed one of the most prominent and coolest areas in FusionFall: The Unknown.

The Unknown was the test and bug area for the game. Developers tested features there, and fusion lairs and a few Infected Zones were stored there. Nobody was allowed to go in there, or at least we thought.

After some time people started finding ways to enter the Unknown. Popular people who managed to get in there included Legomegazord and Zippy Zoomshoes, the latter of which later released a video on getting to the Unknown and exploring practically all of it.

Later on in Retro, the Unknown was accesible again. Devs didnt advice people to go in there, and if your character got stuck there they would not help you, but people did it either way.

Sadly, as said before, with the January 26th update the Unknown was locked, and people who try to go in there get inmediately teleported back. The area should still be there since fusion lairs and more are there, but if you try to access it thru other means you will get teleported.

In response to this, a pretty popular or at least well recognized player named Pistol_SpaceAir created a thread to try to get the Unknown to return. You can check the thread here.

He also created a Change.org post (yes really) to convince the devs to bring it back or at least achknowledge it. The petition requires 100 signatures, and while Change.org usually doesnt work, i do still recommend that if you want the Unknown back that you sign it.

https://www.change.org/p/the-fusionfall-community-project-u-nknown-let-s-make-the-unknown-known

In knowledge of the thread, Devan made this statement:

"Though it is possible for players to get outside the game map through normal means and using only the game mechanics to do so, we've had several cases of players abusing hacks to do so. Allowing the exploration of the out of bounds areas of the game incentivizes this behavior and is just unprofessional from a game design standpoint. We also then have to investigate every single case of players exploring outside the game map, and it can sometimes lead to unfair advantages for some players, like if Past players make their way to the Future area of the game.

More importantly, on several occasions, players have warped to others that were in the unknown and gotten stuck. Yes, I know its a button click away to get back to the main world, but there are a surprising amount of players that simply aren't aware and wind up with stuck characters.

I guess the point is that leaving the entire out of bounds area of the map is unprofessional and leads to a ton of inconveniences on pretty much everyone. This was the most elegant solution we could figure out to solving the issue. As an aside, characters that are in the unknown should be able to warp away or warp to a friend to make their way back to the main part of the game."

The devs are saying that it was used for cheating, hacking and exploiting, and also that it was unprofessional and gave unfair advantages. There were also alot of stuck players.

Devan continued replying thru the thread. Here are a few responses both from Devan and users. Make sure to enlarge the image if you cannot read the text.

So Plants: Should they bring back the Unknown?

Ill be honest. I dont like things that can be exploited, but this is quite a big part of FusionFall. Some people just played Retro for the Unknown (like Pistol_SpaceAir). Others got really popular off it, like Zippy Zoomshoes.

For bringing it back, i would probbaly say No since it can be exploited and it wasnt meant to be a part of the game. I do feel that the Devs should have asked the community if they wanted it removed or kept rather than just doing it on their own, but thats just me.

As of this moment however, the Unknown is dead. May it rest in peace.

Video: Random Future Footage

Heres a kind of compilation of 3-4 videos put in one. Recorded a few videos of the future and put them together in this. Enjoy!

Evil turned Good?

Well... I guess?

My boi Zoom Xtreme keeps changing. He is now part of the Monkey Minions and serves Mojo.

See this is funny, because when he had the Mandark race outfit he served Mandark, but in the Mojo Guide Missions at one point both Dexter AND Mandark try to screw over Mojo, so its kinda ironic and funny to see him switch sides to help out the one being screwed over here dont ya think?

Idk. Might make for a good trust plot in there (wow character development what is this an anime?)

Heres a few of the cool drops ive been able to get with him. Went to the Darklands with some friends and grinded for a bit and got some Mercury Pants, and then in a Mission Crate got the Bubbles Dynamo Body.

Pretty good overall. Ima be switching constantly between Zoom and Zippy (that one ranger commander character grill i have) and leveling them up at around the same pace. Lets see how this goes.

Quick: Picture FusionFall but as World of Light from SSBU

Now instead of the main fusionfall theme play Lifelight. Play the japanese version of the song if you want to make it an anime.

...

Pretty cool huh?

Idk i just had this in my mind and had to get it out thru a post lol

Yes, we all have been crashing and freezing (Update Bugs)

So with the recently added "Minor Update" (which you can read about here) a ton of us have been crashing and freezing out of nowhere.

This is a bug we all have, not just on your end. The Retro team doesnt really know how it got in here during the update but they are hoping to fix it soon. For now here are a few recommendations to at least reduce crashing by a bit.

- Lower your graphic settings
- When entering a new area or zone, drop out of your vehicle and enter slowly so you give the game enough time to render areas. Dont jump or make too many movement imputs, otherwise it increases the chances of crashing (ive done this and it has worked a few times).

Heres hopeing the bug gets fixed soon.

Meet my new character: Wacky Wally!

Wacky Wally is a future dweller. Stuck forever in there, he enjoys destroying the futuristic beasts from destroying it more than it already is. If you are looking for boss gear or special futuristic items, he is your man.

I kept my promise and made a character specific to the future. Hopefully i get him out once i get all the boss items and a pretty full blindfold inventory to trade away. Its kind of a chore to find Don Doom, but Bad Max is manageable, plus with the help of some friends he is manageable too.

The Brand New "Minor" Update to Retro! (Beta v2.4.5 Patch Notes)

A brand new update came out yesterday. Take a look at the patch notes!

General
- We’ve wrapped up the anniversary celebrations, and set the gazebo back to normal. Hope you enjoyed the fun!

- The Birthday Bash Vehicle Vendor may be gone, but we’re sure his awesome vehicles will make a comeback.

- The way NPCs are handled has been changed a bit.

Social
- The experimental new chat window has had some minor updates, and should be a bit more stable. Expect less backward talk.

- We added a few cool, new emotes to the new chat window. With the new chat enabled, check out the emote tab, marked by the yellow smiley face next to the chat box, and click on the “Chill Out…” tab to find some leisurely new emotes.

- With the experimental chat window you can keep your buddy list open at all times. To expand on this, we’ve added notifications in the chat for when friends have come online or gone offline, so you always know who’s around at all times.

NPCs
- A shady and mysterious vendor seems to have appeared in an unknown location to sell some “totally legal” items. We’re not sure where or why, but we’d recommend steering clear.

- We’ve introduced 8 new “Guide Item Shops,” in Townsville Center and Forsaken Valley. In Townsville Center, you can find the first three guide sets available for purchase, and in Forsaken Valley, the last three guide sets from each guide. If you’ve misplaced or deleted a coveted guide item, you can buy them back from these guys. This also allows you to safely delete guide items without the fear of never getting them back, letting you clear up some bank space.

Items
- The aforementioned Mysterious Vendor sells a couple of exclusive items, and it seems he’s looking to expand his roster of blackmarket valuables. Check back with him frequently and see what he’s got to sell….If you can find him!

Bug Fixes
- No more glitchy players! We’ve implemented a solution for player movement that should make other players’ movements look more fluid. Modern game design!
- Sliders crossing map borders should no longer cause sporadic disconnects.
- Rockets and grenades should more accurately hit monsters.
- Fixed some disconnects that were caused by poor connections.
- Some cannons in the Canopy Infected Zone were infamously shooting players at unprecedented
speeds. We’ve gotten our best engineers to tone em down a bit.

Known Issues
- The new chat window got some fixes, but still isn’t perfect. We’re getting there!

Pretty big update for being called a "minor" update. Cant wait to see what these vendors have in store :)

Level Guides: Level 1

Surprise! I bring you a brand new series ima be doing, called Level Guides. Im going to guide you thru a whole level in FusionFall, explaining what happens during this level, and giving out tips and tricks. I hope you enjoy it :)

Who´s this mysterious fellow we got here?
Level 1 in FusionFall honestly doesnt need a guide, but to get you started good and to have a logic to this series we gotta cover it. This is a very fast and simple level that wont take you more than 10 minutes to complete if you know what to do.

Level 1 takes place in Sector V (The Future), where you need to help out Computress and Numbuh Two. You will get clothing that can be found in the Character Creator, in case you wanna switch up your style later, and cool accesories as well, like the illusive blindfold.

Basics

FM required to reach the next level: 220
Area: Sector V (The Future)
Characters: Computress. Numbuh Two.
Number of missions: 3

Consider this level an extended, free roam tutorial, where you still learn the basics of the game but also get to freely roam around the Future world.

Strategy

This level, and by extension the entire Future, are so short that you can easily grind some Fusion Spawns and get thru it really quickly. The strategy i always do is this.

1. Pick up the "Spawn Spree" mission from Computress, which is about defeating 3 Fusion Spawns.
2. Complete the mission.
3. Grind Fusion Spawns until i reach the Nano Mission.

It saves a bit of time doing the mission than just destroying spawns, and you get a cool Jetray mask, which is a nice bonus.

You can, albeit it really isnt recommended if you want to progress quickly, change your Buttercup Nano power to Scavenge, which will give you 20% more Fusion Matter per Monster defeated and Missions completed. It costs 5,000 Taros to get the power items (less if you got lucky with a Golden Egg) and around 300 or so Fusion Matter at Level 1. This is why its not recommended to change it yet, as it can also be helpful for defeating the Future bosses (which will get talked about in a later guide)

Nano Mission

Numbuh Two is the nano that you will get during this level.
Image result for FusionFall Numbuh 2 nano
His mission is really easy as well. Just make sure to avoid the Shocktangler eruption attacks and you should be fine. Try to defeat all the monsters in the lair as well, because they can also drop accesories from their crates. Unlike Fusions in the past, all the fusions in the future CAN be stunned, so try to Stun Fusion Numbuh Two if you are having trouble defeating him.

As for the Nano power, you should choose Run-Self, since you dont have a vehicle at this point and you will be traveling alot on Foot both in the Future and the Past, so having a Run nano will speed everything up by quite a bit. Just try to save up some taros for potions so you can use him constantly.

A Not So Blinding Dilemma

A couple months back i made a post called "A Blinding Dilemma", which you can read here

Needless to say, with the release of the Past and tons of people already completing the game, its no surprise that other items would be added to the economy, and Future items would become slightly more valuable. Today not only do i want to talk about the state of the Blindfold, but also the event items in the economy as of making this post. Sit back cuz this one will be a long one.

Lets start with the main topic: The Blindfold
This item has gone up and down in price constantly since the release of the past. Recently however, people have stopped trading with Taros practically all together, and now try to get items instead. Ive seen people trading them for Coco Set parts, Eduardo Set parts or other event items, so thats neat.

But even then i havent been able to find much info on this. If you wanna lend a hand in helping, check this forum post i made right here. Im gonna make a follow-up post soon but i need info from the community. If you wanna contribute you can do it there.

So overall the blindfold looks to be in limbo right now. Its weird, but what you gonna do.

Another one in limbo are pretty much all the Future Items, especially Don Doom and Bad Max items.
While i have no clue why people would want the items from these 2, considering that there are better version in the past at higher levels, they are collectibles nonetheless, so it makes sense... For them atleast (im not a big collector as you can tell)

I have found a post that is, at the time of writing, selling a few Don Doom and Bad Max items. If you wanna grab one, you can check this forum post made by Supahbuddy.

Besides those, all the Future items seem pretty much worthless. I did see a Smellmet being sold over here by enasre for 20k Taros, but besides that no one seems to care.

Im actually planning on making a character to grind Future items and sell them. Hopefully today, but we will see.

I did speak earlier about how people wanted items instead of taros now, which is understandable as taros arent that valuable, but i think that might change soon if we keep getting Vehicles every update, or the ones we have right now from the Bday Bash somehow become permanent (more on that in another post btw).

Right now you can grab most items by simply trading 1 or 2, maybe 3 Ultra Rares away for 1 super cool Ultra Rare, while other items can be obtained for cheap with Taros.

The one big exception which i wanna get to right now are... The Birthday Bash Items

Im going to do a Bday Bash update review later when the event ends, but for now im just gonna say this.
These items were implemented well, but they were given out in the literal tons. Everyone had these items by Day 1 and 2 of the event, and since then ive barely seen anyone near the cake or the Party Poopers.

One day i was playing in one of my characters, where i got in a talk with a group we made. We were grinding the Party Poopers like mostly everyone else, where we got to talking about how worthless these items would become, since they were being given out in the masses.
Again, im going to talk about this more in my event review, but still i feel like it was worth pointing out, considering this is practically an Economy Discussion post.

Anyways, im off to make that character to grind the Future. Hoping to get a full inventory of blindfolds or Bad Max items before i go to the past lol.

True Evil

I can officially say that Zoom Xtreme has turned to the dark side. GG.
Looks fucking awesome tho not gonna lie. Got that edge factor going.

Now its not all evil. He isnt with fuse nor anything (i promise).

Lets quickly talk about drops cuz i got 2 very good drops while doing missions with Zoom over here.
1st, from a monster crate drop i got the Bubbles Dynamo Helm.

And then from a Mission Crate (of all damn things), i got the pink val hallen guitar.

Gotten really lucky recently but i feel like thats gonna run out at this rate LOL.

Look at what i got

Got this yesterday while doing some lvl. 17 missions, like you do.

I honestly have no clue how i have more luck finding Ultra Rares when im NOT looking for them rather than when i AM looking for them.

GG FusionFall.

1/22/19

Meet my characters (and the cringy backstories i have for them) as of 22/01/2019

So i have quite a few characters. Here they all are.

Plants 10000

Current Level: 36
Considers himself the leader of the group despite not having much experience in leadering. He only considers himself that way because he was the first, and the highest leveled so far. Used Scavenge for all of his journey, and loves progressing quickly and as efficiently as possible thru any challenge.

Aqua Zoom

Current Level: 12
As a huge tech nerd, Aqua Zoom loves everything that is technology. For some reason, he doesnt like showing his face, and keeps a mask or a blindfold on him at all times. Known for experimenting with weird nano power choices, he can be a huge bag of surprises. Most around him think of him as a weirdo who almost never speaks. He is a really mysterious person for sure.

Corin Zoommage

Current Level: 23
While his name implies he is a mage, he really isnt, but instead he is known to be the problem solver for Plants and his group. He loves being around groups and helping out whenever possible, even if it means going out of his original plans. Loves his cone shaped hat and skull mask, which is why he has always been with Dexter from the start.

Zoom Xtreme

Current Level: 16
Being the outcast of the entire team, Zoom Xtreme has dedicated his full time since leaving the dreaded Future to being evil. Following the genius yet evil from Mojo Jojo, Zoom is set out to ruin anyones plans, but he still fights Fuse for whatever reason. Maybe he is trying to conquer the world as well, and we dont know it?

Zippy Wormzombie

Current Level: 14
Being the 1st girl to join the team, Zippy started out as the banker for the team, holding every item they obtained but didnt want to store. Eventually she got tired of this and decided to start fighting the fusion menace as well. While her gear may not have the greatest stats, she loves it and hasnt thrown it out nor changed it since she got it. Loves rifles to the point of not having much firepower in turn of using them, and always knows the best Nano team for a situation.

Abbey Yetiangel

Current Level: 13
Originally afraid of fighting the fusion invasion, Abbey joined her brother Corin to fight off the invasion. Her and Corin always make a great team, with them following the same guide and using almost the same items at times. Unlike Corin however, Abbey likes to go solo, which sometimes goes against her.

Zippy Zerozap

Current Level: 4
No one knows much about Zippy Zero, other than she is the new member of the team. More Mysterious than Aqua Zoom, this girl has also been known to like technology and is very edgy. If anything, she is just another hero trying to find her role in the invasion. Whatever the case, we are sure she will make a great addition to the team.

Zippy Acrobatabyss

Current Level: 8
One day, Zippy Acro just showed up out of nowhere. Being a loner and a lover for the default nanos (Buttercup, Numbuh 2, Eddy), she doesnt interact much with the team, but has been seen interacting with the evil Zoom Xtreme. Maybe the 2 of them are allies? Evil or not, she still helps out in defeating the evil Fuse and his minions at whichever chance she has.

Purple 920

Current Level: 7
This gal showed up one day out of nowhere as well. All she said was that she was Plants´ sister, and showed her nano collection. Lets just say Purple has some weird nano choices, always choosing the worst powers for each of her nanos, just to make people confused. She does her best against the Fusion invasion despite this however.

Music Tuesdays: SSBU Piano Solo

Lets start with one track ive been listening to alot recently. This is a piano rendition of the Super Smash Bros Ultimate theme.

You just gotta listen to it. Sounds awesome.

Is it valid to say hello after so long?

Um
Hi

Seems like i left this place abandoned for years.
I got very uninterested in blogging and plus got addicted to FusionFall when it released that i completely forgot about the blog. That and IRL stuff.

I can say im back, but if i do take any breaks i will make it known from here on out. Im sorry for leaving, and i hope to make it up to you all during this following year.

I will start by redesigning the blog. Really requires an update. Sadly i might have to lower to amount of posts i do weekly since ive been getting busier with both school and life, but might increase over time. We will see.

Again, im sorry for leaving without notice. I promise next time ill actually announce when i need a break.

Thanks everyone.
