These are some important news for RETROs release. Take a read:
It is with deep regret that we must announce that our plans for
Launching FusionFall Retro have changed. Despite our greatest efforts
and hard work, we’ve come to the very difficult conclusion that
everything that more development time is required before we release a
playable build to the public.
As it stands right now, FusionFall Retro’s launch date is unknown as we work through our server rewrite.
We will continue work as hard as we can in order to release the game. That said, FusionFall Retro is currently not playable.
As a result of previously unforeseen circumstances, our current setup
in regards to how the server works does not allow for our previous plan
of a release by this year’s end.
Previously, we assumed
Retro could be launched full scale using our previously built
infrastructure. We were wrong, and as a result, the entire system has to be redone.
That sounds a little scary considering how long it has taken to come
this far, but we’ve learned much in the past year that should allow for
the process to go much smoother than initial tests. FusionFall was
programmed almost a decade ago by primarily non-english speakers, so
trying to get things working has been rough. A majority of the work has
been guesswork.
While we found out the system had to be
redone, we were initially optimistic that it could be completed,
regardless of a system rewrite. After all, we want nothing more than for
everyone to be able to play FusionFall as soon as possible. However, as
a result of the busy holiday season and a sudden pick-up in more
important life things like schooling, time ran short. It’s important to
note that the FusionFall Retro team is very small. If one member is out,
that typically means that day is gone.
Our current plan
moving forward is continue the rewrite as previously stated and further
work on the remaining features that must be implemented in order for the
game to run as intended. Above all else we want to ensure that we can
launch the game without any issues that could potentially break
characters or ruin gameplay. It’s important for us to ensure that
FusionFall Retro functions exactly as it should before we release.
This has been a hard decision and announcement to make, but it is what is, and we’re moving forward with our heads up.
We want Retro out as soon as possible. We want the community to be
playing as soon as possible, and we want everyone to experience and
enjoy it as soon as possible.
As always, be sure to stick with FusionFall Universe for updates regarding development.
Honestly, i expected that the game would not be released this year. Put my bit of salt for that statement.
Take
your time guys! We have waited 3 (next year 4) years for our beloved
game to return, and plus as some said earlier, this may make the game
bug free when released and it may run smoother than before! Im kinda
dissapointed but not sad nor angry. Enjoy the holidays as well and
hopefully everything goes well for the rewritting :)
Of course, a Thread was made to discuss it, come check it out and leave any concerns you may have there: http://www.forums.fusionfalluniverse.com/index.php?topic=5493.30
Its sad but we have waited for a lot longer. Waiting a bit more isnt that bad everyone.

UPDATE: Kevman said somethings in a response in the thread! Heres what he said
" After reading a bit of this thread while being mobile, i am going to
chime in on a few things that have been said, and say personally how ive
felt.
Keep in mind this was NOT and i repeat NOT a easy thing to
decide at all between Me Alex and Josh. We want this game to come out
as much as you guys do, and we are greatly disappointed in not able to
obtain this year in getting at least something out to you guys.
Things
happen however, and things came up. We were indeed infact positive we
could deliver a experience this year, but keep in mind there is lots of
unexpected things that can happen in peoples lives, We cannot predict
the future sadly, and this was the only way. We did everything we could
to deliver on this year, but we do not want to deliver a rush product to
you guys and ruin the experience that you guys would have while
playing.
While i do admit a 11 day window of this post is messed
up, We hope to make this up to you in the future, and already have a few
ideas in the works.
We have learned a lot since we started this
project over a year ago and joining Legacy to create the ultimate
FusionFall fan site, Fusionfall Universe. Lots of you guys have been
super supportive of both games, and we greatly love the feedback (even
the negative ones!) we seriously cannot thank you enough for keeping the
spirit of FusionFall alive and wanting to fight Fuse again! Please
continue to support us and support the game, we assure you that this
roadblock that we face will not win, and our fight against Fuse will
continue. :)
We
will continue to learn and take everyones feedback into account, We
love all of you, and we hope to make it up to you guys soon.
Thanks :)"
UPDATE 2: Found another post by Kev about the issue
Another thing to say is that this does not take long at all, and some of you have a wrong idea on this rewrite.
We know how the game works, it is going to take less of a time to do this and more benefits this way.
I ask for you to trust us, we wouldn't be doing it this way if it took 1-2 years to complete.
We
are not going to cancel retro, this project will continue, lots of
people want to play the original game and will always want to play the
original, this is what everyone started out on, and it will always hold a
place here on the site, you won't see it going away anytime soon.
