Hey everyone! In this week's update we'll be covering one of the bigger and most essential features: Nano powers.
Most nano powers in the game use buffs, which are things that are temporarily applied to characters.
There are passive buffs such as run, jump, freedom, or antidote, and there also powers that are performed upon activation, such as rocket, damage, drain, or leech. Temporary powers could also be received by collecting Coco's Eggs!
As with many features of the game, nano powers required a lot of research for the best accuracy. We had to be sure we were using the right numbers in the right situations. Each power effectively had to be treated as a feature to ensure everything was functioning accurately. Research is perhaps the longest part of the development cycle, as we have been trying our best to be both accurate and balanced!
And of course, you can’t forget about Gumballs! Gumballs were fairly straightforward, but threw us a bit of the loop. As it turns out, Gumballs were originally intended to come in several different tiers of power, and many things were left over as a result, which made first, but fortunately, we were able to figure out when the values were used appropriately.
We’ve also implemented the changing of nano powers. Nanos have three powers each, but you can only have one selected at a time, which is chosen when you first receive the nano. If at any point you want to change what power the nano uses, you’ll be able to swap it out for either of the other two powers the nano has available. To do this, players need enough taros to buy the the power items that correspond to the nano power they want, as well as enough fusion matter to make the power change.
As always, thanks for reading our latest weekly update! Stay tuned for more exciting details!
