Lost Media Sundays: Double treat! (AWOG The Downer and Fraidy Cat)

Apologize for not posting this last week. But here we go!

"The Downer" is the thirty-sixth episode of Season 3 of The Amazing World of Gumball, an animated series produced by Cartoon Network Development Studios Europe.

The final product revolved around The Wattersons trying to cheer up Gumball, who was in an inexplicable bad mood. Gumball then gets mad and wishes for his family to disappear, which they and the rest of Elmore do. Throughout the course of the episode, Gumball slowly goes insane as he walks around the empty town.

However, the original draft of the episode was excessively dark, with creator Ben Bocquelet mentioning it as the reason why the episode was considerably rewritten.

As of yet, details concerning the original draft haven't surfaced anywhere online and the only mention of it is on Bocquelet's Twitter in a conversation with one of the shows fans.

Fraidy Cat is a cancelled Disney film that was directed by John Musker and Ron Clements. Character and background designs were done by Andreas Deja, Harald Siepermann, and Hans Bacher. The movie was to be released in 2009, but was shelved in 2005. It was allegedly a satire of a Hitchcock noir film.

The initial story-reel was presented in May 2004, but David Stainton, then president of Walt Disney Feature Animation, wouldn't agree to release the movie because he did not see it as marketable to a general audience.

The film details the adventures of Oscar, a cat, and Corina, a cockatoo. They're two spoiled pets that live an easy life in their owner's London flat until a fellow neighborhood pet is kidnapped and Oscar is the prime suspect. The two set off on a mission to find out the real culprit in order to clear Oscar's name.
