Heres what was said by Womayhem in the latest Devblog:
Hey everyone! As we approach the release of FusionFall Retro’s future update, we are going to be releasing weekly updates detailing the features that we’ve been hard at work on over the past few months.
Today, we will be going over an exciting feature we like to call “Shard Migration”.
Rather than getting the “Network Close” popup that you are all accustomed to, Shard Migration takes effect when the game server (also known as the shard) becomes unavailable. You will get a popup to notify you while it attempts to find a new shard to move you over to automatically. This prevents you from having to restart the game and login again. This feature also removes the possibility of the game crashing when you warp to a buddy (which was quite frequent in the original). No action is necessary, a short loading screen appears and you will automatically resume at the same position on the new shard.
Here’s the popup that will appear when the Shard you’re playing on becomes unavailable:
Once a new shard has been found, you will be greeted with this message:
Note: This system has not been finalized and is subject to change.
We will be doing weekly updates until the release of the Future.
That’s all for this week, stay tuned next week for our next FusionFall Retro news post!
Im just gonna point out the obvious: Weekly Updates
That is just amazing! And it means we will get RETRO real soon. I love this feature as Network closes were some of the most annoying bugs and problem in FF.
Also, i will later make a post detailing our plans for Winter 2017. I can guarantee its alot, and you might like it!
