Hey everyone, welcome to the first FusionFall Retro development blog!
Unlike FusionFall Legacy’s development blogs, our development blogs are
going to focus more on what’s going on behind the scenes rather than
focusing on specific assets and characters.
First off, we would
like to apologize for the initial lack of updates regarding FusionFall
Retro’s development. That said, we’ve got exciting stuff to share!
Please
keep in mind that FusionFall Retro is still in active development and
we’re progressing every day towards a full release. As we continue
development, we also work to improve on the existing experience. We’re
planning to tweak the rate that items are dropped from certain monsters,
and also tweak the items dropped from E.G.G.E.R.s and C.R.A.T.E.s in
the final release.
As for what’s left to do and an estimated
release date, we still have some polishing and missing features left to
implement. These include nano powers, as well as monster/slider/car
paths. As for a release date, we still do not have a time but are very
confident it will be within the next few months.
We’d like to
take the time to also re-iterate on how big of a game FusionFall is.
When we started working on the FusionFall Retro server back in December
2015 (when development began) we started from scratch. We don’t have the
data the original server had, which means we have had to go through
ourselves and make sure things like NPCs, enemy drops, items, monkey
skyway agents, and just about anything else you can think of is
functional and accurate. This is a lot of work for a small team.
On
that note, we’d like to mention that with our extensive research,
recent breakthroughs have allowed us to add content using the existing
assets in the game. We can add things like missions, items, and NPCs.
However, as we intend for FusionFall Retro to be an experience faithful
to the original, we only plan to add new content for things like special
events.
But for now we’ll leave you with a new find that we’ve recently uncovered: Early Tech Square!
Thanks
to the people who provided us with beta cache files, we were able to
convert and load the beta map for FusionFall. We stumbled across this
early version of Tech Square that was removed very early on. It
showcases quite a few buildings that have never been seen before! We
plan to feature these buildings in FusionFall Legacy at some point in
the future.
That’s all for now, but we’ll be back soon with another progress update. See you all next time!
